The TFH16 is the large sand cast version of the Regent No.16 moulded ogee gutter — available in sizes significantly larger than the standard stock H16 range. Where the standard No.16 in 125×100mm or 150×100mm is insufficient for the building, the TFH16 offers the same Regent moulded ogee profile in 160×115mm, 230×115mm, and 292×127mm — providing the correct heritage profile in genuinely monumental sizes for the most substantial period buildings.
These sizes place the TFH16 firmly in the domain of large country houses, Victorian civic buildings of the first order, major churches and cathedrals, estate buildings, and significant institutional architecture where the Regent No.16 pattern is the historically correct profile and the roof scale requires a far larger section than standard stock provides. Yes — we strongly recommend painting all products before installation to ensure full coverage on every surface, which reduces long-term maintenance. Standard Premier Rainwater products are supplied in a grey metal primer with rust inhibitors and need two undercoats and one top coat (or one undercoat and two top coats) of a good quality exterior paint.
The Antique Black cast iron version is suitable for external use. The Polished Lacquered version is best suited to interiors or sheltered external locations where the polished finish will be protected from weathering. The Polished Brass version is suited to interior and semi-exposed locations. For external applications on exposed elevations, the Antique Black finish is the recommended specification.
Yes. Cast iron hopper heads are the historically correct choice for listed and period buildings, and a like-for-like cast iron replacement is generally accepted without objection by conservation officers. We manufacture to BS 460 for genuine heritage character and durability.
