The Selmerstone No.91 combines a faceted body with a cast foliate motif on the face — decorated, but considerably more restrained than the fully modelled patterns in the range.
The body is canted, its corners cut back so light falls across several planes rather than one flat front, and it swells gently before drawing in to the outlet. A moulded band runs above and below. At the centre of the front face sits a stylised foliate device, cast in shallow relief and often picked out in a contrasting colour.
The faceted plan is not only decorative. It stiffens the casting against the thermal movement and knocks that rainwater goods take, and it reduces the flat internal corners where debris settles in a square hopper. On a head that will be cleared rarely, that is a genuine maintenance benefit.
It suits Victorian domestic and institutional buildings, Arts and Crafts work, vicarages and villas, and any elevation using chamfers, splays or canted bays where a square hopper would sit awkwardly.
Cast in solid iron to BS 460:2002, supplied in primer or black as standard, with heritage colours and traditional linseed oil finishes available on request.

Georgian properties typically used Half Round or ogee-style guttering, often in larger sizes to handle the roof areas of substantial period buildings. Large sand cast gutter profiles are appropriate for grander Georgian architecture, particularly country houses, institutions, and formal terraces. If the original guttering has been lost or damaged, a site survey can establish the most appropriate profile from the building

Victorian properties most commonly used Ogee (OG) gutter profiles, including the standard Cast Iron Ogee and the G46 Moulded Ogee. Half Round guttering was also widely used, particularly in the later Victorian period. The correct profile depends on what is already present on the building — we recommend inspecting any surviving sections and matching the profile, size, and socket direction exactly. We supply 19 standard gutter profiles and can copy-cast any non-standard profile from a drawing, photograph, or physical sample.
Yes. Cast iron rainwater goods are widely accepted by conservation officers and historic environment bodies as the appropriate material for listed buildings. Tuscan Foundry's hopper heads are manufactured in solid cast iron to BS 460 specification and are suitable for all listed building classes. A linseed oil paint finish is also available, which is particularly appropriate for conservation projects.
The in-house Premier Extra coating is formulated for a life expectancy of around 10 years under normal weather conditions, provided any impact damage or surface scuffing is made good promptly. Coastal locations or higher pollution levels can shorten this, so it's worth asking your local stockist or paint manufacturer for site-specific advice.
Bespoke and copy cast iron rainwater goods typically have a lead time of 8 to 10 weeks from order confirmation. This covers pattern-making, casting, finishing, and quality inspection. Standard stock items are available for prompt dispatch. We always recommend confirming lead times at enquiry stage so your project programme is not affected.
Our standard spike or sturt length is 300mm (12″). Other sizes are available upon request.
Hopper heads are supplied in red oxide primer ready for on-site painting, or pre-finished in black. A full range of Heritage Colours in traditional linseed oil paint is also available on request — please contact us for the swatch chart.
