The Clifton No.542A is a study in restraint: a wide moulded top and a smooth, continuous concave sweep down to the outlet, with nothing else at all.
The casting has no panelling, no boss, no cresting and no applied ornament. Its entire character comes from the curve — a single unbroken concave flare from the generous rim to the narrow collar, with small cast ears at the sides taking the wall fixings. Seen in elevation the profile is closer to a trumpet than a box, and the absence of horizontal breaks means light travels smoothly across the surface rather than being caught and interrupted.
Patterns like this suit buildings where the architecture is confident enough not to need help. Late Georgian and Regency elevations, well-proportioned classical work, good modern buildings in a traditional idiom, and conservation schemes where the brief is to reduce visual clutter rather than add period flavour.
The smooth form has a maintenance advantage worth noting. With no undercuts, no recesses and no flat internal corners, there is very little for debris or moisture to lodge in. On an elevation where access is difficult, or on a building with a limited maintenance budget, that simplicity pays back over decades.
Cast in solid iron to BS 460:2002 and supplied in primer or black as standard, with heritage colours and traditional linseed oil finishes available on request.

Yes. Churches and ecclesiastical buildings are one of our most common project types. A hit and miss vent has a sliding plate on the back of the grille that can be opened, partially restricted, or closed entirely without removing the vent from the wall. This allows airflow to be controlled from inside the building, making it suitable for underfloor void ventilation and through-wall ventilation where adjustable airflow is needed.
