The Tintern No.541 is the most explicitly ecclesiastical casting in the range. It carries both a crenellated rim and, on the front face, a cast pointed arch.
The arch is the defining feature — a Gothic opening with moulded reveals set into the face of the hopper, reading as a miniature window or blind arcade. Above it the battlemented top line completes the reference; below, the canted body tapers through a stepped skirt to the outlet, with cast side lugs for the fixings. Together the two motifs make the casting unmistakably of the Gothic Revival rather than generically period.
That specificity is a strength and a constraint. On a parish church, a chapel, a church hall, a lychgate, a vicarage or a Victorian school built in the ecclesiastical manner, the Tintern belongs to the building’s own vocabulary — the same pointed arch appears in its windows, its doorways and its porch. On a classical or vernacular building it would be conspicuously wrong, and a plainer pattern is the correct specification.
For church work the practical considerations matter as much as the aesthetic. Roof areas are large, gutters run long distances before discharging, and access for clearing is often difficult and expensive. Specifying adequate hopper capacity and an outlet sized to the actual roof area, rather than to what was there before, is usually money well spent.
Cast in solid iron to BS 460:2002 and supplied in primer or black as standard, with heritage colours and traditional linseed oil finishes available on request.

Yes. The ornamental foliate pattern was widely used in Victorian construction and is appropriate for Grade II listed buildings and conservation area properties. Its decorative character is often preferable to a plain pattern on prominent or formal elevations. We recommend confirming the pattern with your conservation officer as part of any listed building consent application.

Yes. Tuscan Foundry Products cast iron rainwater goods are manufactured to BS 460:2002, the British Standard specification for cast iron rainwater goods. BS 460 compliance is often required by conservation officers and heritage bodies when specifying rainwater systems for listed buildings and conservation area properties.
