The Kenilworth No.530 sits between the plain castellated Alnwick and the fully decorated patterns: crenellated at the rim, canted in the body, and carrying a single cast rosette on the front face.
The battlemented top line gives the casting its Gothic character. The body below is faceted and tapers to the outlet, with a cast side lug for the wall fixing. What distinguishes it is the rosette — an open, radiating flower boss set centrally on the face, providing one point of focus without covering the casting in ornament.
That single motif does a surprising amount of work. It gives the elevation something to read at close range while keeping the silhouette simple at distance, and it makes the hopper look intended rather than merely functional. On a building where the Ludlow would be excessive and the Alnwick slightly bare, the Kenilworth is usually the right answer.
It suits Gothic Revival parish churches, chapels, lodges and gatehouses, Victorian schools, and estate buildings where the original ironwork carried modest decoration. It also works well as the principal-elevation pattern in a scheme that uses a plainer castellated head on the returns.

Traditional Express (TX) is a cast iron push-fit soil system. Socketless pipes are joined with push-fit sockets and couplings using rubber seals, so there is no caulking on site. LCC uses caulked socket-and-spigot joints and a bitumen coating. TX is quicker to install and can be painted; LCC is the closer match to an original Victorian stack. Yes — we strongly recommend painting all products before installation to ensure full coverage on every surface, which reduces long-term maintenance. Standard Premier Rainwater products are supplied in a grey metal primer with rust inhibitors and need two undercoats and one top coat (or one undercoat and two top coats) of a good quality exterior paint.

In most cases, replacing like-for-like cast iron guttering on a listed building does not require Listed Building Consent (LBC), provided the replacement matches the existing profile, material, and finish exactly. However, any change of material away from cast iron will almost always require consent. We recommend consulting your local conservation officer before proceeding, and we can provide specification documentation to support your application if required.

Casting of iron is an imperfect processs. It is possible with some cast iron radiators that you will get minor imperfections in the surface finish. When radiators are painted this will reduce and over the years every additional coat of paint applied will provide a smoother more equal finish.
