The Kenilworth No.530 sits between the plain castellated Alnwick and the fully decorated patterns: crenellated at the rim, canted in the body, and carrying a single cast rosette on the front face.
The battlemented top line gives the casting its Gothic character. The body below is faceted and tapers to the outlet, with a cast side lug for the wall fixing. What distinguishes it is the rosette — an open, radiating flower boss set centrally on the face, providing one point of focus without covering the casting in ornament.
That single motif does a surprising amount of work. It gives the elevation something to read at close range while keeping the silhouette simple at distance, and it makes the hopper look intended rather than merely functional. On a building where the Ludlow would be excessive and the Alnwick slightly bare, the Kenilworth is usually the right answer.
It suits Gothic Revival parish churches, chapels, lodges and gatehouses, Victorian schools, and estate buildings where the original ironwork carried modest decoration. It also works well as the principal-elevation pattern in a scheme that uses a plainer castellated head on the returns.
Cast in solid iron to BS 460:2002 and supplied in primer or black as standard, with heritage colours and traditional linseed oil finishes available on request.

The Polished Lacquered finish suits buildings where period ironwork was finished bright rather than painted — formal entrance elevations, listed properties, and settings where the grille contributes to the decorative programme of the facade. A hit and miss vent has a sliding plate on the reverse of the grille that can be moved to open or close the ventilation apertures. This allows airflow to be regulated without removing or replacing the grille. The vent can be fully open, partially open, or fully closed depending on ventilation requirements.
