Pultney Tapered Cast Iron Hopper Head

£59.70 – £184.30Price range: £59.70 through £184.30 +VAT

Clear

The Pultney Tapered Cast Iron Hopper Head is a traditional flat-backed hopper head with a clean, utilitarian character — well suited to vernacular and Georgian-influenced architecture. Its chamfered, faceted body tapers cleanly from a wide rectangular opening to a circular downpipe outlet, without surface decoration or ornament. The result is a hopper that reads as architecturally resolved rather than plain: the angled facets catch the light and give the casting visual depth, while the flat back sits flush against a wall or fascia.

Available in three pipe connection sizes — 65mm, 75mm, and 100mm — with dimensions scaling accordingly. The 65mm and 75mm versions measure 210mm wide × 163mm deep × 195mm high; the 100mm version measures 253mm wide × 210mm deep × 210mm high. All sizes include integral fixing holes. The hopper is available in Standard Black or Heritage Colour finishes, and connects to matching cast iron downpipes via spigot and socket.

The Pultney suits a broad range of building types: Georgian and Regency townhouses, Victorian terraces, rural farmhouses, barns, and functional estate buildings where an unfussy traditional hopper is the appropriate solution. It is equally at home on new heritage-style construction and on restoration projects where a period-correct replacement is required.

Cast in solid grey iron in the UK, the Pultney Tapered Hopper Head is appropriate for use on listed buildings and within conservation areas. It is available alongside matching downpipes, offset bends, and fittings to complete a fully coordinated rainwater system.

Round pipe connections: 65mm (RH025, XRH025), 75mm (RH03, XRH03), 100mm (RH04, XRH04)

Are ornamental cast iron vents suitable for listed buildings?

Are ornamental cast iron vents suitable for listed buildings?

Yes. Cast iron ornamental vents in period patterns are frequently specified on listed buildings and conservation area properties as like-for-like replacements for original Victorian ironwork. Conservation officers generally accept cast iron in period patterns without objection. We can supply specifications to support planning and listed building consent applications.

What finishes are available on your cast iron hopper heads?

What finishes are available on your cast iron hopper heads?

Our cast iron hopper heads are available in a standard primed and black-painted finish, ready for on-site topcoats. Heritage colour finishes and factory-applied linseed oil paint are available on request. Linseed oil paint is a vapour-permeable, period-appropriate finish particularly well suited to listed buildings and conservation area properties.

Do your steel brackets have a protective coating?

Do your steel brackets have a protective coating?

Yes. All our mild steel brackets are supplied in either silver or black zinc plate. This coating protects the metal however, both will need painting prior to installation.

We have chosen to use zinc plating for two reasons; firstly that it is a more environmentally friendly than galvanising and secondly that it does not block up the threaded part of the rise and fall cups in the way that galvanising does.

What building types is the Iron Works Hit & Miss Vent in Antique Black suited to?

What building types is the Iron Works Hit & Miss Vent in Antique Black suited to?

The Antique Black finish suits Victorian, Edwardian, and inter-war buildings where ventilation ironwork was painted rather than polished — estate houses, terrace housing, civic buildings, and rural properties. It is also correct for listed buildings and conservation area properties requiring like-for-like replacement of original ornamental cast iron vents.

What building types is the Iron Works Hit & Miss Vent in Polished Brass suited to?

What building types is the Iron Works Hit & Miss Vent in Polished Brass suited to?

The Polished Brass finish suits buildings where brass metalwork was standard — formal Victorian terrace housing, civic and institutional buildings, and high-quality estate architecture. It is appropriate on listed buildings and conservation properties where the wider ironmongery specification is in brass and a matching material is required.

What finish options are available for rooflight opener handles?

My house has a plastic guttering system. Can I use your brackets to replace my exisiting broken ones?

My house has a plastic guttering system. Can I use your brackets to replace my exisiting broken ones?

Our brackets are more commonly used on cast iron rainwater systems. Unlike plastic, cast iron is heavy and the weight keeps the gutter in position. As such our brackets do not normally have retaining clips which could lead to plastic or lightweight gutters blowing out of the bracket. The profile of your gutter should match that of our bracket but without the weight to keep it in place you may well encounter problems in bad weather.
