Strayton Cast Iron Hopper Head No.42

£318.00 – £762.00Price range: £318.00 through £762.00 +VAT

Clear

The Strayton Cast Iron Hopper Head No.42 — code H42A — is a large-format rectangular rainwater hopper with a strong horizontal profile and a clean, functional character. It belongs to the tradition of Victorian and Edwardian commercial and civic hoppers: wide, plain-bodied, and built to handle significant volumes of water from large roof areas.

The H42A presents as a broad, shallow-fronted rectangular box with flat panel sides and a projecting top rim. There is no applied decoration; the proportions and the quality of the casting carry it. In four widths — 305mm (12″), 355mm (14″), 457mm (18″), and 610mm (24″) — all at a consistent 184mm depth and 150mm height, the range covers the span from a terrace house downpipe to the substantial drainage runs of warehouses, civic buildings, and large country houses. The outlet sits centrally at the base.

The H42A is suited to Victorian and Edwardian terraced streets, converted industrial buildings, commercial heritage properties, and any project requiring a wide-format hopper without decorative elaboration. It reads quietly against plain brickwork and dressed stone alike, and its four size options make it practical across a wide range of gutter configurations.

Cast in solid cast iron and available in standard black paint finish or factory-applied linseed oil paint for conservation work, the H42A offers a broad range of pipe connection options including round, square, and rectangular outlets. Both finish and connection size are selected at the time of order.

Pipe Connections — Round: 65mm / 75mm / 100mm
Pipe Connections — Square: 75×75mm / 100×100mm / 125×125mm
Pipe Connections — Rectangular: 100×75mm / 125×100mm / 150×100mm

Suitable for listed buildings and conservation area projects. For specification support or project enquiries, call 0333 987 4452 or visit tuscanfoundry.com.

How does the ornamental pattern affect ventilation performance?

How does the ornamental pattern affect ventilation performance?

The Gothic foliate tracery design of the Ornamental Airbrick provides a good free-flow ventilation area relative to its face size. The open area is comparable to other standard cast iron airbrick patterns. The visual density of the pattern at a distance reads as solid ironwork, which suits formal and decorative elevations without compromising subfloor ventilation effectiveness.

We are renovating a barn and would like to know what the anticipated life expectancy of your guttering and pipework would be.

The standards for our cast iron gutters and pipes have remained remarkably constant for many years. The physical properties of cast iron are sustained throughout its lifetime thus maintaining its effectiveness. Coupled with is durability and proper maintenance, we would expect our traditional cast iron rainwater products to last for over 50 years under normal conditions.

Is a brass rooflight opener suitable for a listed building or conservation area?

Is a brass rooflight opener suitable for a listed building or conservation area?

What is the difference between a pole winder opener and a telescopic opener?

What is the difference between a pole winder opener and a telescopic opener?

A pole winder opener has a fixed-length arm, making it suited to standard rooflight positions with a consistent throw. A telescopic opener has an adjustable shaft, allowing it to accommodate varying rooflight positions and throw requirements. For guidance on which suits your project, call 0333 987 4452.

We are looking to install a new heating system into a Georgian farmhouse and would like to know whether we would be better installing tubular steel column radiators or traditional cast iron radiators.

We are looking to install a new heating system into a Georgian farmhouse and would like to know whether we would be better installing tubular steel column radiators or traditional cast iron radiators.

Cast iron radiators cost no more to run than modern steel or aluminium radiators. Cast iron is a very efficient material at emitting heat, thus you have items like le creuset cast iron pans. Cast iron holds it’s heat extremly well, which means that the radiators stay warm for longer.
