The Trenton No.12 is a plain square head with an unusually deep taper — a long, clean sweep from a generous open rim down to the outlet, with no ornament at any point.
The depth is the point. It gives the casting real capacity for a modest footprint, and it keeps the water surface well below the rim in heavy rain, which is what prevents overflow running down the wall face. Cast lugs at the sides take the fixings; the top edge is left plain.
Simplicity like this is often exactly what the evidence supports. Where an original hopper has failed and nothing survives to suggest decoration, a plain deep head is the honest replacement — and the deep taper means it handles a larger roof area than its width would suggest, which is useful where the original was undersized.
It suits period domestic buildings, estate and agricultural ranges, terraces, and service elevations of every period.
Cast in solid iron to BS 460:2002, supplied in primer or black as standard, with heritage colours and traditional linseed oil finishes available on request.
