H25S – Large sand cast socket and spigot box guttering.
This large cast iron box gutter is suitable for larger
buildings and industrial and railway heritage projects, and is available in
the following sizes:

The TFH25S is a large sand cast socket and spigot box gutter in the 150×150mm size — a square-sectioned profile providing substantial drainage capacity in a form suited to parapet gutters, valley gutters, and other applications where a concealed or near-flush cast iron gutter is required rather than an exposed decorative profile.
The 150×150mm section makes the TFH25S one of the larger box gutter profiles in the range, appropriate for buildings with significant roof catchment areas and where the drainage load demands a very large cross-section. Typically specified on large Victorian civic buildings, churches, industrial heritage sites, and estate buildings.

The right size depends on the width of your gutter run and the volume of water you need to collect. The Strayton H42A is available in four widths: 305mm (12"), 355mm (14"), 457mm (18"), and 610mm (24"). As a general guide, wider hoppers suit larger roof areas and heavier rainfall zones. Casting of iron is an imperfect processs. It is possible with some cast iron radiators that you will get minor imperfections in the surface finish. When radiators are painted this will reduce and over the years every additional coat of paint applied will provide a smoother more equal finish.
The H527 measures 430mm wide x 195mm deep x 540mm high, making it well suited to Victorian villas and townhouses where a decorative leader head is wanted.
Hopper heads are supplied in red oxide primer ready for on-site painting, or pre-finished in black. A full range of Heritage Colours in traditional linseed oil paint is also available on request — please contact us for the swatch chart.
The H525 measures 270mm wide x 208mm deep x 285mm high, making it well suited to smaller period properties, extensions and outbuildings.
Cast iron hopper heads from Tuscan Foundry are available in Standard Black (a factory-applied primer and topcoat finish) and Heritage Colours. A linseed oil paint finish is also available, providing a vapour-permeable, historically authentic coating that is particularly appropriate for listed buildings and conservation projects. Yes. Decorative cast iron and brass ventilation grilles of this pattern were widely used in Victorian and Edwardian buildings, and like-for-like replacements are generally accepted by conservation officers for listed building works. We can provide product specifications and material details to support listed building consent applications if required.
The Antique Black cast iron version is suitable for external use. The Polished Lacquered version is best suited to interiors or sheltered external locations where the polished finish will be protected from weathering. The Polished Brass version is suited to interior and semi-exposed locations. For external applications on exposed elevations, the Antique Black finish is the recommended specification.
Premier Extra is our ready-to-fix factory finish — an attractive black semi-gloss coating that needs no painting on site, available across all seven standard gutter profiles and round rainwater pipes. It's also available to special order in a wider range of RAL and BS colours.
All of our cast iron radiators are availbale as standard with a 1/2″ BSP (15mm) connection. We are though also able to supply many of our radiators and valves with 3/4″ BSP connections. Due to the size proportions of some radiators and valves 3/4″ connections may be more suitable.
