The Rectangular Pipe Ornamental Earband Pattern H is a decorative cast iron collar for rectangular downpipes with a moulded profile specific to the H pattern. Specified on conservation and listed building projects where Pattern H is the correct match for the original ornamental earbands on the building, or where the conservation specification requires this pattern to be reinstated as part of a facade restoration.
Ornamental pipe earbands in patterns including H were commonly used as a design feature on Victorian and Edwardian civic architecture, large churches, country houses, and formal commercial buildings where the downpipe run was treated as an architectural element of the facade. The Gothic foliate tracery design of the Ornamental Airbrick provides a good free-flow ventilation area relative to its face size. The open area is comparable to other standard cast iron airbrick patterns. The visual density of the pattern at a distance reads as solid ironwork, which suits formal and decorative elevations without compromising subfloor ventilation effectiveness.

The Antique Black cast iron version is suitable for external use. The Polished Lacquered version is best suited to interiors or sheltered external locations where the polished finish will be protected from weathering. The Polished Brass version is suited to interior and semi-exposed locations. For external applications on exposed elevations, the Antique Black finish is the recommended specification.
