Clear

The Edwardian 6 column is a deep, plain column radiator. At 221mm deep it gives the most heat per metre of wall of any plain pattern in our range. That makes it the first choice where wall space is limited, or where a heat pump is planned and a radiator needs more output without more length. It comes in four heights from 485mm to 960mm.

Choose primer, ready to paint on site to match the room’s joinery or a historic colour scheme (typically 14 days), or a factory colour from our standard range of 20 (typically two to three weeks; tell us your colour from the colour chart when you order). Each section is 60mm wide and 221mm deep. Outputs are tested to BS EN 442; radiators are rated to 6 bar working pressure, have ½” BSP connections and carry a 10-year guarantee.

Choosing and sizing

The Edwardian 6 column is usually chosen for rooms where wall space is short, kitchens, and heat pump systems in period houses. To size it, divide the room’s heat loss by the output per section at your system’s temperature and round up. On a heat pump at ΔT30 a section gives about half its ΔT50 output. Our guides to sizing cast iron radiators for a period room and cast iron radiators with heat pumps work through examples, and the 2026 specification guide (PDF) lists every pattern and output. See the radiators in period settings in our radiator gallery, or compare with the plain Victorian 4 column.

Send us your room heat losses and we will prepare a radiator schedule with section counts and lengths at boiler and heat pump temperatures. Call 0333 987 4452 or contact us.

How are your cast iron radiators priced?

How are your cast iron radiators priced?

Each radiator is priced by the number of sections, from 3 to 30, so you only pay for the length you need. Prices are shown on each product page, and delivery is a flat £95 plus VAT per radiator order. Please call 0333 987 4452 or use the contact form for a quotation.

Do cast iron radiators work with heat pumps?

Do cast iron radiators work with heat pumps?

Yes, provided they are sized for the lower water temperature. Outputs are published at ΔT50; at ΔT30 a section gives about half that, so heat pump systems usually need more sections or a deeper pattern. We can prepare a radiator schedule at your heat pump design temperature.

Are cast iron radiators suitable for listed buildings?

Are cast iron radiators suitable for listed buildings?

Yes. Traditional cast iron column radiators are the authentic choice for period interiors, and plain patterns such as the Victorian 4 column are usually preferred by conservation officers. Replacing radiators or altering pipe runs in a listed building may need listed building consent, so speak to the conservation officer before work starts.

My builder has calculated out our heating requirement in each room of our house in BTU’s. Can you tell me what BTU’s stand for, and is this different to KW.

BTU stand’s for British Thermal Units. This was the old (Imperial) measurement for heat in connection with plumbing. Although BTU’s is a term still commonly used within the heating and plumbing, the industry is now going over to KW’s Kilowatts.

Please can you advise whether we will require 1/2″ or 3/4″ BSP connections for our new cast iron radiator.

Please can you advise whether we will require 1/2″ or 3/4″ BSP connections for our new cast iron radiator.

All of our cast iron radiators are availbale as standard with a 1/2″ BSP (15mm) connection. We are though also able to supply many of our radiators and valves with 3/4″ BSP connections. Due to the size proportions of some radiators and valves 3/4″ connections may be more suitable.

We have just purchased some cast iron radiators and they have a slightly uneven texture to the surface. What can we do about this.

We have just purchased some cast iron radiators and they have a slightly uneven texture to the surface. What can we do about this.

Casting of iron is an imperfect processs. It is possible with some cast iron radiators that you will get minor imperfections in the surface finish. When radiators are painted this will reduce and over the years every additional coat of paint applied will provide a smoother more equal finish.

We are refurbishing our bathroom and wish to place a heated towel rail in the new bathroom. Our plumber has advised that the heated towel warmer would be connected to the heating system, this would mean when we turn the system off in the summer that the towel rail will not work. What can we do ?

It is possible for us to supply towel warmers with an electric heating element in them. The Electrad system is a unique system available to us, that enables independent heating of towel rails and radiators via the properties electrical system.

We are looking to install a new heating system into a Georgian farmhouse and would like to know whether we would be better installing tubular steel column radiators or traditional cast iron radiators.

Cast iron radiators cost no more to run than modern steel or aluminium radiators. Cast iron is a very efficient material at emitting heat, thus you have items like le creuset cast iron pans. Cast iron holds it’s heat extremly well, which means that the radiators stay warm for longer.

Technical data sheet

Every product in our cast iron radiator range has a double-sided A4 technical data sheet, written for architects, specifiers and heating engineers. It includes dimensioned drawings, outputs at ΔT50 and ΔT30, weights, water content, fixing details and a model specification clause you can copy into your specification.

Send us your room heat losses and we will prepare a radiator schedule for your project. Call 0333 987 4452.
