Imperial Building Conservation

Imperial Building Conservation is a building conservation consultancy based in Hastings, East Sussex, advising on listed building consent and planning permission for historic buildings. Its principal consultant, Simon Richard, has worked in the construction industry for more than 20 years and holds a postgraduate diploma in building conservation, gained in 2017. He states that he is a full member of the IHBC, having met its membership criteria in 2021. Since 2018 he has also given building conservation advice to local authorities, which gives the practice working knowledge of how the consent process is handled on the authority side. The consultancy aims to balance preservation of the historic built environment with considered change that helps period buildings stay in use. Owners and architects preparing consent applications for listed buildings may find it a useful adviser.
