The Square Access Pipe is a short length of cast iron square downpipe with a removable inspection door bolted to its face. It is fitted low in the run, or just above a bend or shoe, so leaves, moss and debris can be cleared without dismantling the pipework.
The rectangular door sits on a machined seat and is held with two zinc-plated bolts, so it can be opened and re-sealed repeatedly. The head has the same moulded socket band as the running pipe, available with integral fixing ears or plain, so the access pipe matches the eared or plain run around it.
Access pipes are good practice on any long or heavily loaded square downpipe, and particularly valuable on churches, civic buildings and properties under trees, where blocked pipes are a common cause of saturated masonry and damp.
All fittings in our square range are cast iron to BS 460:2002, made to the same moulded profile so pipes and fittings line up neatly on the elevation. Every fitting is supplied either in primer, ready for painting on site, or in factory black. For listed buildings and conservation areas we also offer hand-applied linseed oil paint in heritage colours, which stays breathable and flexible and is straightforward to maintain. Stocked items are usually dispatched within 5 to 7 working days; allow around 6 to 7 weeks where a linseed oil finish is specified.

The H540 measures 600mm wide x 340mm deep x 475mm high, making it well suited to substantial country houses, civic and ecclesiastical buildings.
Our cast iron hopper heads are available with 65mm, 75mm and 100mm round outlets, 75mm, 100mm and 125mm square outlets, and 100x75mm, 125x100mm and 150x125mm rectangular outlets, to match the downpipe already on site or specified for the project.

LCC soil pipe and fittings are available in 50mm, 65mm, 75mm, 90mm, 100mm and 150mm. Traditional Express is available in 50mm and 100mm. LCC pipe comes in 1829mm, 1219mm, 914mm and 610mm lengths, with eared and plain double socket lengths for cutting on site.

Yes. Cast iron hopper heads are the historically correct choice for listed and period buildings, and a like-for-like cast iron replacement is generally accepted without objection by conservation officers. We manufacture to BS 460 for genuine heritage character and durability.
A hit and miss vent has a sliding plate on the back of the grille that can be opened, partially restricted, or closed entirely without removing the vent from the wall. This allows airflow to be controlled from inside the building, making it suitable for underfloor void ventilation and through-wall ventilation where adjustable airflow is needed.
The Pultney Tapered Hopper Head is available in three pipe connection sizes: 65mm (2.5"), 75mm (3"), and 100mm (4"). Each size connects directly to matching cast iron downpipes via spigot and socket. Compatible downpipe codes are: 65mm — RH025, XRH025; 75mm — RH03, XRH03; 100mm — RH04, XRH04.
