The Rectangular Pipe (Eared) is a length of cast iron rectangular downpipe with a moulded socket at the head and fixing ears cast on, so each length is screwed straight to the wall without separate brackets.
Rectangular pipe is typical of Georgian, Regency and Victorian town houses, terraces and formal elevations, where its flat face sits neatly against ashlar, render and brick. Lengths of 1829mm, 1219mm, 914mm and 610mm let you build a run to suit the wall with the fewest cuts.
Pipes can be cut on site and joined into the socket of the next length. Fixing ears are spaced at each joint, giving a fixing at every socket.
All fittings in our rectangular range are cast iron to BS 460:2002, made to the same moulded profile so pipes and fittings line up neatly on the elevation. Every fitting is supplied either in primer, ready for painting on site, or in factory black. For listed buildings and conservation areas we also offer hand-applied linseed oil paint in heritage colours, which stays breathable and flexible and is straightforward to maintain. Stocked items are usually dispatched within 5 to 7 working days; allow around 6 to 7 weeks where a linseed oil finish is specified.

Georgian properties typically used Half Round or ogee-style guttering, often in larger sizes to handle the roof areas of substantial period buildings. Large sand cast gutter profiles are appropriate for grander Georgian architecture, particularly country houses, institutions, and formal terraces. Half round gutter has a simple semicircular profile and is the most widely used pattern across all building types and periods. Ogee (OG) gutter has an S-shaped decorative profile, historically associated with Victorian and Edwardian properties. Moulded ogee profiles, such as the G46 and Regent No.16, have a more elaborate cross-section with additional mouldings and are typically found on larger or more architecturally significant buildings. The correct choice depends on what is already present on the building and any requirements set by a conservation officer.
