The Rectangular Pipe Anti-Splash Shoe Plain is a termination fitting designed to prevent water splashing back at the base of a cast iron rectangular downpipe run. The extended shoe outlet disperses flow at reduced velocity, limiting splash onto wall bases and paving on heritage buildings. The plain version connects using separate holderbats or brackets at the shoe position.
Specified on listed and heritage buildings where the pipe discharges onto hard surfaces and splash management is required. Available in the standard range of rectangular pipe sizes. The Antique Black finish suits Victorian, Edwardian, and inter-war buildings where ventilation ironwork was painted rather than polished — estate houses, terrace housing, civic buildings, and rural properties. Tuscan Foundry's cast iron hopper heads are available in Standard Black and Heritage Colour finishes. A linseed oil paint finish is also offered — a sustainable, vapour-permeable option particularly appropriate for listed buildings and conservation projects. Half round gutter has a simple semicircular profile and is the most widely used pattern across all building types and periods. Ogee (OG) gutter has an S-shaped decorative profile, historically associated with Victorian and Edwardian properties. Moulded ogee profiles, such as the G46 and Regent No.16, have a more elaborate cross-section with additional mouldings and are typically found on larger or more architecturally significant buildings. The correct choice depends on what is already present on the building and any requirements set by a conservation officer.
In most cases, replacing like-for-like cast iron guttering on a listed building does not require Listed Building Consent (LBC), provided the replacement matches the existing profile, material, and finish exactly. However, any change of material away from cast iron will almost always require consent. We recommend consulting your local conservation officer before proceeding, and we can provide specification documentation to support your application if required.
The H525 measures 270mm wide x 208mm deep x 285mm high, making it well suited to smaller period properties, extensions and outbuildings.
Our cast iron hopper heads are available in a standard primed and black-painted finish, ready for on-site topcoats.
