Pipe nails for the fixing of cast iron downpipes (75mm and 100mm)
The cast iron downpipe fixing nail provides a simple and period-appropriate method for securing cast iron downpipes to a masonry wall. The nail passes through the ear of an eared pipe section and is driven directly into a mortar joint or wall plug, holding the pipe close to the wall face. This is the traditional fixing method for eared cast iron downpipes on Georgian, Victorian, and Edwardian masonry buildings.
Available in 75mm and 100mm lengths to suit the standard range of eared round and square cast iron downpipe sections. Supplied in a pack format. The Antique Black cast iron version is suitable for external use. The Polished Lacquered version is best suited to interiors or sheltered external locations where the polished finish will be protected from weathering. The Polished Brass version is suited to interior and semi-exposed locations. For external applications on exposed elevations, the Antique Black finish is the recommended specification.

The Strayton H42A accepts round, square, and rectangular pipe connections. Round: 65mm, 75mm, and 100mm. Square: 75×75mm, 100×100mm, and 125×125mm. Rectangular: 100×75mm, 125×100mm, and 150×100mm. Please specify your required connection size when ordering.

It is appropriate on listed buildings and conservation properties where the wider ironmongery specification is in brass and a matching material is required.

The Ornamental Airbrick is suited to Victorian villas, bay-fronted terraces, Gothic Revival institutional buildings, church halls, and civic buildings where decorative ironwork is part of the architectural language. It is also appropriate for listed buildings and conservation area properties where the airbrick is on a prominent elevation and the ventilation grille is expected to carry decorative character.
The Gothic foliate tracery design of the Ornamental Airbrick provides a good free-flow ventilation area relative to its face size. The open area is comparable to other standard cast iron airbrick patterns. The visual density of the pattern at a distance reads as solid ironwork, which suits formal and decorative elevations without compromising subfloor ventilation effectiveness.
The H460 is well suited to Georgian, Regency, and Victorian buildings where a plain, undecorated rectangular hopper is the appropriate choice — particularly listed properties, conservation area buildings, and institutional or commercial buildings in historic town centres.
