The cast iron downpipe fixing nail provides a simple and period-appropriate method for securing cast iron downpipes to a masonry wall. The nail passes through the ear of an eared pipe section and is driven directly into a mortar joint or wall plug, holding the pipe close to the wall face. This is the traditional fixing method for eared cast iron downpipes on Georgian, Victorian, and Edwardian masonry buildings.
Available in 75mm and 100mm lengths to suit the standard range of eared round and square cast iron downpipe sections. Supplied in a pack format. The louvre face provides directional airflow and offers some resistance to driven rain entering the subfloor void, making it a practical choice for exposed elevations or properties in areas with significant prevailing wind and rainfall. The square-grid (school board) pattern offers a larger open ventilation area but less weather protection.

Our cast iron hopper heads are available with 65mm, 75mm and 100mm round outlets, 75mm, 100mm and 125mm square outlets, and 100x75mm, 125x100mm and 150x125mm rectangular outlets, to match the downpipe already on site or specified for the project.
Our brackets are more commonly used on cast iron rainwater systems. Unlike plastic, cast iron is heavy and the weight keeps the gutter in position. As such our brackets do not normally have retaining clips which could lead to plastic or lightweight gutters blowing out of the bracket. The profile of your gutter should match that of our bracket but without the weight to keep it in place you may well encounter problems in bad weather.

The in-house Premier Extra coating is formulated for a life expectancy of around 10 years under normal weather conditions, provided any impact damage or surface scuffing is made good promptly. Coastal locations or higher pollution levels can shorten this, so it's worth asking your local stockist or paint manufacturer for site-specific advice.
The H529 measures 430mm wide x 290mm deep x 540mm high, making it well suited to multi-storey Georgian and Victorian townhouses with a longer fall to the outlet.
