The Harling No.517 is a wide, low head carrying two circular roundels side by side across its face — a pairing that gives the casting a rhythm most single-motif patterns lack.
A moulded cornice runs the full width above; below it the two wheel-like roundels sit within the flat field, each with radiating spokes cast in relief. Substantial side lugs take the wall fixings and the outlet drops from the underside. The result reads as a small frieze rather than a decorated box.
Width is the practical characteristic. Where a shallow eaves overhang or a band course restricts the vertical space available, this pattern spreads its capacity horizontally and stays within the band, while the paired roundels give it enough interest to sit on a principal elevation rather than being relegated to the rear.
It suits Victorian terraces and villas, board schools, civic and municipal buildings, and conservation area housing where the hopper is clearly visible from the street.
Cast in solid iron to BS 460:2002, supplied in primer or black as standard, with heritage colours and traditional linseed oil finishes available on request.

The Antique Black cast iron version is suitable for external use. The Polished Lacquered version is best suited to interiors or sheltered external locations where the polished finish will be protected from weathering. The Polished Brass version is suited to interior and semi-exposed locations. For external applications on exposed elevations, the Antique Black finish is the recommended specification.
Our standard spike or sturt length is 300mm (12″). Other sizes are available upon request.
The H544 measures 380mm wide x 220mm deep x 418mm high, making it well suited to Georgian and Victorian townhouses and period commercial buildings.
The School Board Airbrick is suited to Victorian and Edwardian terraced housing, mid-century school buildings, civic halls, public baths, and converted institutional buildings. Its plain square-grid face matches the utilitarian aesthetic of late-Victorian construction and is also appropriate for new heritage-style builds in conservation areas.

Yes. Churches and ecclesiastical buildings are one of our most common project types. We regularly supply large sand cast gutters, rectangular and square downpipes, and bespoke hopper heads for church restorations. Many churches have non-standard profiles that require copy casting. We work directly with architects, church fabric advisors, and quinquennial inspection surveyors. Historic England and many Diocesan Advisory Committees specify cast iron as the appropriate material for listed ecclesiastical buildings.
