A genuine cast iron rainwater system with the traditional ogee (OG) curved pattern.
The cast iron ogee gutter is one of the most widely used heritage rainwater profiles in England and Wales. The ogee — sometimes written OG — takes its name from the classical S-curve cross-section: a concave upper curve flowing into a convex lower form, giving the gutter its characteristic elegance and depth. It is the standard gutter profile on Georgian and early Victorian terraced houses, rectories, vicarages, manor houses, and civic buildings across England and Wales, and the correct heritage-accurate replacement wherever the original ogee has failed or been removed.
This section is 1829mm (6 feet) in length, manufactured in solid cast iron to BS 460:2002. Available in three sizes to suit the standard range of period buildings: 100mm (4″), 115mm (4.5″), and 125mm (5″). Supplied in primed or factory black finish. The socket-and-spigot joint connects sections cleanly in a run, secured with union clips and sealed for a watertight installation.
Suitable for all grades of listed building and accepted by conservation officers across England and Wales as the appropriate heritage material for period rainwater work. The cast iron ogee is particularly prevalent on Georgian terraces, late-Victorian and Edwardian domestic architecture, institutional buildings, and rural estate properties where the ogee profile was the builder’s default specification.
Cast iron significantly outlasts uPVC alternatives. Correctly maintained with paint, a cast iron ogee gutter system will perform for 50 to 100 years or more — a specification that satisfies both the conservation brief and the long-term maintenance interest of the building owner.

The H1 is available to accept round pipe connections in 65mm, 75mm, 100mm, and 150mm diameters. The 65mm and 75mm variants measure 305mm wide by 197mm deep and 210mm high. The 100mm variant measures 355mm wide by 230mm deep and 240mm high. A 150mm connection option is also available — please contact the team for dimensions.
Yes. All our mild steel brackets are supplied in either silver or black zinc plate. This coating protects the metal however, both will need painting prior to installation.
We have chosen to use zinc plating for two reasons; firstly that it is a more environmentally friendly than galvanising and secondly that it does not block up the threaded part of the rise and fall cups in the way that galvanising does.
Our hopper heads are available with a wide range of pipe connections to suit round, square, and rectangular downpipes. The Calnethorpe No.11 accepts round 65mm, 75mm, and 100mm; square 75×75mm, 100×100mm, and 125×125mm; and rectangular 100×75mm, 125×100mm, and 150×100mm. As well as being easier to produce, the material enabled eaves gutters to be installed more simply, since lead could only be used in this location as a lining for timber gutters. Many modern materials focus on replicating the appearance of cast iron but those materials can vary rarely offer any of the benefits. Cast iron gutters and pipes offer great strength and durability, a proven history of long life, low noise operation and fire resistance.

When describing modern materials, the term ‘cost effective’ is used rather than simply saying cheap. There is no doubt that the initial cost of many modern materials is less than cast iron but you might be surprised to know that over its lifespan, cast iron will cost around a third of plastic.

Our cast iron hopper heads are available in a standard primed and black-painted finish, ready for on-site topcoats. Heritage colour finishes and factory-applied linseed oil paint are available on request.
