Purcell is a practice of architects, masterplanners and heritage consultants founded in 1947, with its head office at Bermondsey Square and studios across the UK and the Asia Pacific region. Its work centres on understanding, conserving and adapting significant historic buildings and places, from cathedrals, palaces and country houses to hospitals, galleries and post-war estates. Projects include the National Portrait Gallery, the restoration of the Elizabeth Tower, the North Wing of St Bartholomew’s Hospital and the Tai Kwun Centre in Hong Kong. The practice has prepared national guidance for Historic England on reusing heritage buildings, and its chair established the RIBA Conservation Award.
