Hutton + Rostron
Hutton + Rostron (H+R) was founded in 1966 and is now part of SOCOTEC UK, a testing, inspection and certification group. The practice specialises in building pathology, listed building surveys and damp and timber decay, with particular expertise in architectural conservation. As independent building professionals with no treatments to sell, its staff bring skills in traditional materials, timber identification and strength grading, damp management, fungus and insect classification and materials science. Projects have included the Tower of London, Windsor Castle and Brighton Pavilion, as well as churches, stately homes, terraced houses, barns and standing ruins, for clients including the National Trust, English Heritage, Cadw and Historic Environment Scotland.
Suitable for: independent diagnosis of damp, decay and dry rot in listed buildings, and non-destructive investigation where historic fabric cannot be opened up.
