G S Haydon & Son Ltd

G S Haydon & Son Ltd is a joinery workshop in South Molton, North Devon, established in 1926 as a wheelwright’s business. It designs and makes bespoke timber windows, doors and joinery, with a particular focus on period and listed properties. Materials include air-dried oak, Accoya and other hardwoods, worked with traditional construction methods alongside modern machinery. The firm carries out both new joinery and repairs, favouring materials and finishes that let timber be maintained rather than replaced. Examples on the site include traditionally made glazed external doors developed with a homeowner, architect and listed building officer, and a repair to the timber subframe and cill of a 1960s galvanised steel window rather than replacing it. The firm trains apprentices.
