Frew Conservation
Frew Conservation is an independent consultancy and training provider focused on the repair, conservation and understanding of traditional buildings. Its consultancy centres on traditional masonry, especially stone and lime mortar, and covers condition surveys, materials investigation and laboratory analysis, repair specifications, conservation advice and quality inspections. Analysis is used to establish how a building was put together, why it is deteriorating and what repair approach is appropriate. The firm works directly for owners, trusts, charities and other organisations, and also joins wider project teams with architects, engineers, surveyors and contractors. Its training programme includes seminars, workshops, lectures, demonstrations and hands-on sessions delivered with experienced craftspeople. Based at Orwell Farm near Kinross, it works throughout Scotland and the UK, with occasional overseas commissions.
