Capstone Consulting Engineers Ltd
Capstone Consulting Engineers is a small structural engineering practice in the Peak District near Buxton, set up in 2001 by John Ruddy, who holds an MA in conservation, is a Chartered Structural Engineer and became one of the first Conservation Accredited Engineers in 2005. Much of its work is on historic buildings, churches and estates, and on new building in historic settings, alongside domestic repairs, alterations and extensions closer to home. Services include structural appraisals and surveys, feasibility studies and urgent-work reports, movement monitoring and strengthening, foundation repair including work in archaeologically sensitive ground, retaining walls, fire-damaged structures and timber frame repairs. The practice also advises on listed building and planning consents, party wall matters and drainage. Its approach favours working with an existing structure’s inherent strength to keep intervention to a minimum.
