Anthony Swaine Architecture Ltd continues a practice first set up in 1945 by the conservation architect Anthony Swaine. The present company was established by David Stere, who trained under Swaine, and Clive Bowley, formerly Principal Conservation Officer at Canterbury City Council, and works from one of the bastion towers of Canterbury’s medieval city walls. The practice specialises in traditional and classical design, work to historic buildings, traditional joinery detailing, oak-framed construction, building repair, urban design in historic settings and planning advice. Heritage consultancy covers historic building reports, conservation plans and impact assessments.
