The 610mm plain round rainwater pipe is the shortest standard length in our non-eared cast iron downpipe range. It completes a run without site cutting and covers the short drops between fittings.
Plain pipe has a spigot and socket but no cast-on ears, so it is fixed independently of the pipe itself: with steel holdfasts driven into the mortar, screw-to-wall brackets, or ornamental earbands. The result is a cleaner line on the elevation, with fixings positioned to suit the masonry rather than dictated by the casting.
Plain pipe is typical of Regency and early Victorian buildings, of stucco and ashlar elevations where an unbroken line matters, and of walls where historic holdfasts survive. Combine it with the 914mm, 1219mm and 1829mm lengths to make up any height.
Sizes: 65mm (2½″), 75mm (3″) and 100mm (4″) diameter.
Cast in solid grey iron in the UK to BS 460, and supplied primed for site painting or factory black painted. Linseed oil paint finishes can be quoted on request.

Match the rest of the run. Eared access pipes are nailed to the wall through cast ears, like eared downpipe lengths. Plain access pipes suit runs fixed with holderbats or earbands.

Victorian properties most commonly used Ogee (OG) gutter profiles, including the standard Cast Iron Ogee and the G46 Moulded Ogee. Half Round guttering was also widely used, particularly in the later Victorian period. The correct profile depends on what is already present on the building — we recommend inspecting any surviving sections and matching the profile, size, and socket direction exactly. We supply 19 standard gutter profiles and can copy-cast any non-standard profile from a drawing, photograph, or physical sample.

The Calnethorpe is designed for formal classical and Georgian elevations where scale and material authenticity matter — large townhouses, country houses, manor houses, and institutional buildings. It is also widely specified for new-build heritage projects where cast iron rainwater goods are required to conservation standard.
The standards for our cast iron gutters and pipes have remained remarkably constant for many years. The physical properties of cast iron are sustained throughout its lifetime thus maintaining its effectiveness. Coupled with is durability and proper maintenance, we would expect our traditional cast iron rainwater products to last for over 50 years under normal conditions.
