This 1829mm (6ft) plain round rainwater pipe has a socket cast at each end. It is made for cutting: one casting yields two usable lengths, each with its own socket.
A standard length has a single socket, so cutting it leaves one piece with no means of jointing. The double socket length removes that problem and avoids the extra cost and joints of loose sockets. As plain pipe it has no cast ears, and is fixed with holdfasts, screw-to-wall brackets or ornamental earbands.
It is the practical choice on runs that do not divide neatly into standard lengths: tall stacks, runs broken by offsets and branches, and replacement work where joints must align with surviving holdfast positions. Order it alongside standard lengths so that only the double socket pipe is ever cut.
Sizes: 65mm (2½″), 75mm (3″) and 100mm (4″) diameter.
Cast in solid grey iron in the UK to BS 460, and supplied primed for site painting or factory black painted. Linseed oil paint finishes can be quoted on request.

The Gothic foliate tracery design of the Ornamental Airbrick provides a good free-flow ventilation area relative to its face size. The open area is comparable to other standard cast iron airbrick patterns. The visual density of the pattern at a distance reads as solid ironwork, which suits formal and decorative elevations without compromising subfloor ventilation effectiveness.
Our cast iron hopper heads are available with 65mm, 75mm and 100mm round outlets, 75mm, 100mm and 125mm square outlets, and 100x75mm, 125x100mm and 150x125mm rectangular outlets, to match the downpipe already on site or specified for the project.
The School Board Airbrick is suited to Victorian and Edwardian terraced housing, mid-century school buildings, civic halls, public baths, and converted institutional buildings. Its plain square-grid face matches the utilitarian aesthetic of late-Victorian construction and is also appropriate for new heritage-style builds in conservation areas.
At the foot of each stack above the shoe or gully, directly above offsets and bends, and below hopper heads where trees overhang the roof. On tall or long runs, an extra access point part-way up makes clearance easier.
Cast iron hopper heads from Tuscan Foundry are available in Standard Black (a factory-applied primer and topcoat finish) and Heritage Colours. A linseed oil paint finish is also available, providing a vapour-permeable, historically authentic coating that is particularly appropriate for listed buildings and conservation projects. Full finish specifications are available from the team.
Yes. Cast iron hopper heads are the historically correct choice for listed and period buildings, and a like-for-like cast iron replacement is generally accepted without objection by conservation officers. We manufacture to BS 460 for genuine heritage character and durability.
The Iron Works Patterned Hit & Miss Vent suits Victorian and Edwardian buildings where decorative cast iron or brass ventilation grilles were part of the original specification — including terrace houses, civic buildings, churches, entrance halls, and estate properties. It is appropriate on listed buildings and conservation area properties as a like-for-like decorative vent replacement, and on new heritage-quality construction where period detailing is required.
