Our cast iron hopper heads are available with 65mm, 75mm and 100mm round outlets, 75mm, 100mm and 125mm square outlets, and 100x75mm, 125x100mm and 150x125mm rectangular outlets, to match the downpipe already on site or specified for the project.
Yes. Cast iron hopper heads are the historically correct choice for listed and period buildings, and a like-for-like cast iron replacement is generally accepted without objection by conservation officers. We manufacture to BS 460 for genuine heritage character and durability.
The Calnethorpe is designed for formal classical and Georgian elevations where scale and material authenticity matter — large townhouses, country houses, manor houses, and institutional buildings. It is also widely specified for new-build heritage projects where cast iron rainwater goods are required to conservation standard.
Traditional Express (TX) is a cast iron push-fit soil system. Socketless pipes are joined with push-fit sockets and couplings using rubber seals, so there is no caulking on site. LCC uses caulked socket-and-spigot joints and a bitumen coating. TX is quicker to install and can be painted; LCC is the closer match to an original Victorian stack. The Ornamental Airbrick is suited to Victorian villas, bay-fronted terraces, Gothic Revival institutional buildings, church halls, and civic buildings where decorative ironwork is part of the architectural language. It is also appropriate for listed buildings and conservation area properties where the airbrick is on a prominent elevation and the ventilation grille is expected to carry decorative character.
Eared LCC pipe is fixed through ears cast on the socket. Plain LCC pipe is fixed with holdfasts driven into the mortar joint, screw-to-wall holderbats, build-in holderbats or loose ears. Fix every length below the socket so each joint is supported. Traditional Express uses adjustable brackets.
Yes. Decorative cast iron and brass ventilation grilles of this pattern were widely used in Victorian and Edwardian buildings, and like-for-like replacements are generally accepted by conservation officers for listed building works.
