Zach Watts Master Thatcher

Zach Watts is a Dorset thatcher based at Mosterton, near Beaminster, with more than 25 years of experience. He started an apprenticeship in 1999 under a local master thatcher, trained through the national scheme at Knuston Hall to NVQ Level 3, and works across Dorset, East Devon and South West Somerset. He rethatches in combed wheat reed from the West Country or continental water reed, using locally coppiced hazel spars, and is familiar with the styles of West Country thatched buildings. Other work includes re-ridging from flush to ornamental block ridges, patching and repairs, ongoing maintenance and written condition reports for insurers and surveyors. Free written estimates are provided. Zach states he is a member of the National Society of Master Thatchers and the Dorset Master Thatchers Association.
