W.H. Collier has made handmade bricks at Marks Tey since 1863. Every brick is hand-thrown by the firm’s own brickmakers using clay from its own quarry, giving a variation in colour and texture that machine-made bricks do not match. Bricks are produced in two colour ranges: the Anglian range of reds, browns and soft greys, and the Primrose range of yellows, golds, russets and greys. Alongside standard bricks the works makes British Standard and purpose-made specials, bespoke bricks and blocks to a client’s own design, and handmade fireplace briquettes. Bricks are supplied direct or through merchants for new-build, self-build and heritage restoration projects.
