Tree-Ring Services
Tree-Ring Services is an independent dendrochronology laboratory based at Mitcheldean in the Forest of Dean, providing precise calendar-year dates for historic building timbers, wooden artefacts and living trees. The service has more than thirty years’ experience and combines commercial analysis with research. Recent reports by A K Moir cover oak timbers in manor houses, farmhouses, cottages, inns and a town defence tower across County Durham, Dorset, Essex, Hampshire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Somerset, Staffordshire, Suffolk, West Sussex and Monmouthshire, showing the UK-wide reach of the work.
Suitable for: establishing the construction date and phasing of timber-framed buildings and roofs to inform listing, research, heritage statements or consent applications.
Services: tree-ring dating of building timbers; dating of archaeological and artefact timbers; dendrochronological reports for heritage and research purposes.
