The Oak Blokes
The Oak Blokes is a Sussex firm of traditional carpenters established in 2020 by Lewis, Alex and Josh, working on Grade II listed cottages, manor houses and barns as well as new oak-framed buildings. The company won Sussex Heritage Trust awards in 2024 and 2025 and was highly commended in 2026. Its approach is conservation-led, applying maximum retention and minimum intervention to every job. Recent projects include a new oak roof on a Grade II flint barn, a reclaimed Horsham stone roof on a sixteenth-century manor, and a hand-cut oak roof for the cart shed at Great Dixter.
