Structural & Civil Consultants is an engineering practice based on the High Street in Northallerton, working across Yorkshire and the North East. Its work covers bridge and building design, domestic and local authority commissions, historic conservation, and new building in traditional and low-carbon materials. The team includes two Conservation Accredited Engineers (CARE), and the firm has worked on castles, country houses, churches and city walls, aiming to keep historic fabric and character wherever it can. Projects shown include roof strengthening at Brancepeth Castle, repairs to a tower at Auckland Castle, bracing for leaning walls in the listed walled gardens at Middleton Lodge, and a barn conversion using air-dried sycamore and ash. The practice has a particular interest in structural hardwoods and has won a number of IStructE Northern Counties heritage awards.
