Stand Consulting Engineers

Stand Consulting Engineers is a structural engineering consultancy founded in 2007 by Stuart Tappin and based at the Grade II listed Brunswick Centre in London, a building Stuart Tappin helped to have listed. The practice works on new and historic buildings in London and further afield, drawing on more than 25 years of design experience in the UK and overseas. Its approach relies on hand sketching to reach straightforward answers to complex structural problems, informed by an understanding of how buildings were constructed in the past as well as today. Projects shown include Reliance Arcade in Brixton, Leeds Castle, Broad Chalke Bridge and the Lord Mayor’s Coach, the last of these showing that its work extends beyond buildings to historic objects and structures of other kinds.
