R.V. Miller Ltd

R.V. Miller Ltd is a thatching firm on the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset, established in 1966 by Rod Miller and now run by his stepson John Tozer, who completed his apprenticeship in 1994. The business employs a team of thatchers trained in-house and takes on all types of thatching work, including full roofs, ridging and repairs. It recommends that ridges are renewed roughly every ten years, alongside small regular repairs and inspections. Advice is offered on surveys, insurance reports, fireproofing and listed buildings. Recent work includes roofs at Hambury Bottom, Turners Puddle and Church Knowle, and a curved new-build house in the New Forest. Rod and John state they are members of the National Society of Master Thatchers and the Dorset Master Thatchers Association.
