P.S. Shelley Master Thatcher Ltd is run by Paul Shelley and his eldest son Ethan from Hockley in Essex. Paul began thatching in 1997 as the sixth generation of his family in the trade, and the Shelleys have thatched in Essex since 1807. The firm carries out new thatching, rethatching, re-ridging and repairs on older and newer buildings throughout the county, from Saffron Walden and Thaxted to Maldon, Colchester and Southend. Prospective clients are invited to visit a live job to see the work in progress. Paul states that he is the current chairman of the East Midlands Master Thatchers Association.
