Lee Miller Master Thatcher

Lee Miller Master Thatcher serves the Midlands, covering Leicestershire, Warwickshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Northamptonshire. Lee Miller has thatched full-time since 1991, having first learnt the craft while helping his uncle, the thatcher Joe Wykes, during summer holidays from art college. He laid his first bundle of straw at 17 and later completed an HND in design and model making at the University of Sunderland before choosing thatching as his career. He set up Lee Miller Thatcher Ltd in 2007 and is currently training an apprentice. The business works in long straw, combed wheat reed and water reed, the three main thatching materials found across the region.
