Heritage Lighting Matters is a lighting design consultancy led by managing director Iain McIntosh, advising on lighting for historic properties including castles, palaces and galleries as well as private houses. The work covers warm-white lamps and fittings for interiors, lighting for fine art, and the external and internal illumination of facades to bring out architectural features. Reviews of existing lighting take account of conservation, curatorial and environmental requirements. For paintings the emphasis is on even coverage, restrained intensity, an appropriate colour temperature (typically 2,700K) and lamps with a colour rendering index of 98 or above.
