Glashütte Lamberts Waldsassen is a glassworks in Bavaria that has been making mouth-blown flat glass for more than a hundred years. Around seventy employees produce the glass by hand, blowing the melt into cylinders that are reheated and flattened into sheets, which leaves the small bubbles and uneven surface valued in restoration work. The range runs to more than 5,000 colours and textures. Its hand-blown flat glass method was recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2023. Recent projects include around 1,300 mouth-blown panels for the reglazing of the Big Ben clock faces in London.
Suitable for: reglazing sash windows, leaded lights and church or public building fenestration where modern float glass would look wrong, and for stained glass studios.
