Charles Lowe & Sons
Charles Lowe & Sons, established in 1825, is a Loughborough flooring maker producing new oak floors that are aged, distressed and finished by hand so that they read as original old boards. Ranges include the Generations flagship boards, Versailles and Chantilly panels, the mid-range Sandringham boards and bespoke commissions, with herringbone and chevron patterns also offered. Boards are made in solid and engineered oak, the latter suitable for use over underfloor heating, and the firm positions the product as an alternative to reclaimed antique oak that avoids gaps and draughts. Showrooms can be visited by appointment in Chelsea and at the workshop.
Suitable for: period houses where original floorboards are beyond repair or missing and a stable, hand-aged oak floor is wanted to match the character of the building.
Services: hand-aged wide oak floorboards; engineered oak for underfloor heating; Versailles and Chantilly panels; herringbone and chevron floors; bespoke finishes and commissions.
Location: Loughborough, Leicestershire, with a showroom in Chelsea, London.
