Belgrave Conservation
Belgrave Conservation is the practice of Claire Ridley, a conservator of gilded, painted and decorative surfaces working from a Harley Foundation studio at Welbeck Abbey in Nottinghamshire. She established the business in 2005 after an internship in the Royal Collection’s carving and gilding studio, a post as gilding conservator at St James’s Palace and work as frame and decorative surfaces conservator at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. Services cover picture and mirror frames, gilded and painted furniture, lacquer and japanning, wood carvings, polychrome sculpture and architectural gilding, with condition reports, collection surveys and environmental advice. The studio states that it will work on site, and lists churches, National Trust houses and other historic houses among its clients across the UK.
