Beamish Museum is a living, open-air museum of the history of North East England, set at Beamish in County Durham. Rescued and recreated buildings are arranged in period areas — a 1900s Edwardian town, pit village and colliery, an 1820s Georgian landscape with Pockerley Old Hall and waggonway, wartime and upland farms, and a 1950s town — where costumed staff demonstrate traditional trades and skills such as blacksmithing. The museum operates historic trams and buses on site and is a charity, supported by donations, memberships and volunteers, with a regional resource centre attached.
