The Association of Specialist Underpinning Contractors is an independent trade association originally formed by leading contractors to promote professional and technical competence within the subsidence industry. Its membership now extends across subsidence repair and underpinning, retrofit basement construction and engineered foundation solutions. Contractors wishing to join must first pass a technical, health and safety, insurance and financial audit and commit to prescribed safety procedures; non-contracting companies and consultants may also apply. The association publishes free guideline documents on basements, structural repairs, and underpinning and mini-piling operations, and offers members’ guarantees, including a ten-year latent defects insurance arrangement.
