The AABC (Architects Accredited in Building Conservation) is a not-for-profit accreditation body that maintains a register of architects with proven skill in the repair, maintenance and adaptation of historic buildings. Applicants are assessed by peers and by client-focused lay assessors, and only those able to demonstrate appropriate conservation expertise are admitted. Membership is open to architects registered with the ARB. The register is free to search, allowing clients to check whether an architect is accredited or to find one near them, and the body is self-financed through applicant fees. It also publicises conservation-related CPD and news of newly accredited members.
