The Rectangular Pipe to Round Connector provides a transition fitting between a cast iron rectangular downpipe and a cast iron round downpipe, allowing the two pipe systems to be joined cleanly in a single run. Used where a rectangular pipe at the upper part of the elevation transitions to a round pipe — for example where the rectangular section connects to a round underground drainage system, or where an existing round pipe is being connected to a new rectangular installation above.
An important practical fitting on heritage restoration projects where the existing above-ground pipe is rectangular and the below-ground or transition pipework is round. The Pultney Tapered Hopper Head is available in three pipe connection sizes: 65mm (2.5"), 75mm (3"), and 100mm (4"). Each size connects directly to matching cast iron downpipes via spigot and socket. Compatible downpipe codes are: 65mm — RH025, XRH025; 75mm — RH03, XRH03; 100mm — RH04, XRH04.
Our cast iron hopper heads are available in a standard primed and black-painted finish, ready for on-site topcoats. Heritage colour finishes and factory-applied linseed oil paint are available on request. Linseed oil paint is a vapour-permeable, period-appropriate finish particularly well suited to listed buildings and conservation area properties.

The Antique Black cast iron version is suitable for external use. The Polished Lacquered version is best suited to interiors or sheltered external locations where the polished finish will be protected from weathering. The Polished Brass version is suited to interior and semi-exposed locations. For external applications on exposed elevations, the Antique Black finish is the recommended specification.
Yes. Cast iron hopper heads are the historically correct choice for listed and period buildings, and a like-for-like cast iron replacement is generally accepted without objection by conservation officers. We manufacture to BS 460 for genuine heritage character and durability.
