The Rectangular Pipe to Round Connector provides a transition fitting between a cast iron rectangular downpipe and a cast iron round downpipe, allowing the two pipe systems to be joined cleanly in a single run. Used where a rectangular pipe at the upper part of the elevation transitions to a round pipe — for example where the rectangular section connects to a round underground drainage system, or where an existing round pipe is being connected to a new rectangular installation above.
An important practical fitting on heritage restoration projects where the existing above-ground pipe is rectangular and the below-ground or transition pipework is round. It is breathable, flexible, and penetrating — qualities that suit the movement characteristics of cast iron through seasonal temperature changes. BS 460:2002 is the British Standard governing cast iron rainwater goods — gutters, pipes, and fittings. It sets the dimensional tolerances, materials, and performance requirements a component must meet, so that joints seal, sections align, and the system performs as a whole rather than as isolated parts. All Tuscan Foundry Products components are manufactured to comply with BS 460:2002, which is worth citing directly in specification documents and listed building consent applications. The same manufacturing standard applies to bespoke and copy-cast work, even where the profile itself isn't from our standard range.
