No other material offers the aesthetic appeal of cast iron, one which can satisfy all the requirements of traditional architecture. It is the logical choice for listed properties, conservation areas, and heritage work.
The Heritage Rainwater System from Tuscan Foundry is specified and supplied throughout the UK, Ireland, and for many overseas projects.
Cast Iron Gutter Specifications – Conform to BS460
Tuscan Foundry Heritage standard rainwater range includes 8 cast iron gutter profiles in several sizes with a flow rate capacity of up to 3 liters per second.
The eight standard gutters profiles will satisfy the requirements of most project installations, but where something larger, more unique, in keeping or to satisfy the building listed status we can also supply an extensive range of large sand-cast gutters and can replicate (from originals) bespoke gutter.
In addition to our range of cast iron gutter profiles, we can also offer radius curved gutters in any of the standard profiles.
Cast Iron Downpipe Specifications – Conform to BS460
Heritage cast iron round rainwater pipes are available in four diameters; 65mm, 75mm, 100mm, and 150mm, and in standard lengths of; 610mm, 914mm, 1219m, and 1.829mm and supplied either eared (with fixing lugs) or plain sockets (without fixing lugs. Heritage cast iron rainwater pipes offer uniformity of shape and thickness, but retain the cast finish, by centrifugal casting.
The Heritage range of cast iron gutters and pipes is further enhanced by a wide selection of standard and ornamental rainwater heads.
Customisation of rainwater pipes, enable us to add ears to any standard rainwater fitting, and rainwater heads can be customised with dates or embellishments.

Key Benefits of Cast Iron Rainwater Systems
Cast iron offers many advantages over more modern materials and has been recognised and used consistently on buildings for well over two hundred years now, after replacing lead which was used on larger and more important buildings.
The many benefits of cast iron rainwater systems include:
- Cast iron rainwater pipes are highly resistant to distortion caused by accidents or vandalism.
- Cast Iron gutters can withstand the weight of ladders for roof maintenance. In addition, cast iron gutters will not bend and sag when subjected to heavy snow and storms.
- Correctly installed and maintained cast iron rainwater systems can last more than 100 years. This long life expectancy makes cast iron the cost-effective choice with whole life costs around a third of plastic rainwater goods.
- Cast iron rainwater systems are 100% recyclable at the end of their life, meaning that they can be melted down and reused time and time again. No other rainwater system can offer the environmental benefits that cast iron gutters and pipes can provide your project.
- Low noise levels due to the sound deadening properties of cast iron so very little expansion and contraction in extreme temperatures therefore no noisy clicking, creaking, or permanent deformation of gutters.
Cast Iron Rainwater Coatings and Paint Systems
Our rainwater systems are available in four paint finishes and factory finish solutions will enable quicker on-site installation:
- Heritage Grey Primed: Anti-corrosive high-build primer.
- Heritage Extra Black Gloss: 2-part Polyurethane High Solids Finish.
- Heritage Extra RAL Coloured: 2-part Polyurethane High Solids Finish.
- Heritage Coastal: Marine Paint Finish
Our factory-applied 2-part polyurethane finish has a life expectancy of 10 years. This is subject to an annual maintenance schedule and the correct installation procedures being followed, especially as far as cutting and retouching are concerned.
Heritage Coastal is designed to perform in the rigors of a marine environment. The standard 10-year life expectancy does not apply to coastal and marine environments and we recommend any location within 5Km of the sea should choose our Coastal finish.
