A genuine cast iron rainwater system with the traditional ogee (OG) curved pattern.
The cast iron ogee gutter drop end outlet provides a downpipe connection at the end of an ogee gutter run, used where the run terminates and drainage drops to a downpipe from the end of the section rather than from a central nozzle outlet. A common requirement on shorter runs, corner situations, and buildings where the pipe position is dictated by the facade layout.
Manufactured in solid cast iron to BS 460:2002 and available in the three standard ogee sizes: 100mm (4″), 115mm (4.5″), and 125mm (5″). Supplied in primed or factory black finish. Maintains the ogee S-curve profile at the termination point.
Specified on listed buildings and heritage restoration projects across England and Wales where the cast iron ogee is the correct historic profile. Accepted by conservation officers as the appropriate fitting for period rainwater work.

The H460 is well suited to Georgian, Regency, and Victorian buildings where a plain, undecorated rectangular hopper is the appropriate choice — particularly listed properties, conservation area buildings, and institutional or commercial buildings in historic town centres. Its clean, restrained form makes it equally appropriate on modern heritage-style construction where period accuracy is required without ornamental detail.
The right size depends on the width of your gutter run and the volume of water you need to collect. The Strayton H42A is available in four widths: 305mm (12"), 355mm (14"), 457mm (18"), and 610mm (24"). As a general guide, wider hoppers suit larger roof areas and heavier rainfall zones. The Polished Brass finish suits buildings where brass metalwork was standard — formal Victorian terrace housing, civic and institutional buildings, and high-quality estate architecture. It is appropriate on listed buildings and conservation properties where the wider ironmongery specification is in brass and a matching material is required.

As well as being easier to produce, the material enabled eaves gutters to be installed more simply, since lead could only be used in this location as a lining for timber gutters. Many modern materials focus on replicating the appearance of cast iron but those materials can vary rarely offer any of the benefits. When describing modern materials, the term ‘cost effective’ is used rather than simply saying cheap. There is no doubt that the initial cost of many modern materials is less than cast iron but you might be surprised to know that over its lifespan, cast iron will cost around a third of plastic.
Our cast iron hopper heads are available in a standard primed and black-painted finish, ready for on-site topcoats. Heritage colour finishes and factory-applied linseed oil paint are available on request. Linseed oil paint is a vapour-permeable, period-appropriate finish particularly well suited to listed buildings and conservation area properties.

The H460 accepts round pipe connections in 65mm, 75mm, and 100mm diameters. Square pipe connections are available in 75×75mm, 100×100mm, and 125×125mm. Rectangular connections include 100×75mm, 125×100mm, and 150×100mm options. Connection type is selected at the point of order.
The Ornamental Airbrick (OAB) is available in three sizes: 225mm × 75mm (2.8kg), 225mm × 150mm (4.1kg), and 225mm × 225mm (5.8kg). All sizes have a uniform depth of 75mm, making them consistent to install across a subfloor ventilation course.
