Clear

The Burlington is a traditional cast iron column radiator with a heavily scrolled and relief-patterned surface — one of the most decorative profiles in the Tuscan Foundry cast iron radiator range. The ornate surface detail makes the Burlington a centrepiece as much as a heat source, and it is particularly suited to period interiors, grand reception rooms, hallways, and any space where a highly decorative radiator is part of the design intent rather than an afterthought.

The Burlington combines genuine cast iron mass — which stores and radiates heat slowly and evenly, warming rooms by radiant heat rather than forced air — with the visual character of Victorian and Edwardian decorative ironwork. It is the preferred choice for traditionally styled new-build, refurbished, and listed properties where authenticity of appearance is as important as heating performance.

Priced per section. Available in a range of section counts to suit the room size and heat output required. Supplied in primer as standard; bespoke painted finishes available on request. Large radiators — please enquire directly. For a quotation or specification advice, call 0333 987 4452.

What building types is the Cast Iron Louvre Airbrick suited to?

What building types is the Cast Iron Louvre Airbrick suited to?

The Cast Iron Louvre Airbrick suits Victorian, Edwardian, and inter-war residential and commercial properties where the louvre-pattern vent was the standard specification. It is the correct like-for-like replacement on listed buildings and conservation area properties, and suits new heritage-style construction requiring an authentic period ventilation grille.

Is a cast iron airbrick suitable for use on a listed building?

Is a cast iron airbrick suitable for use on a listed building?

Yes. Cast iron airbricks are the appropriate material for listed buildings and conservation area properties where the original ventilation grilles were cast iron. They maintain the character and material authenticity required by most conservation officers and listed building consent conditions. We recommend confirming the specific pattern with your conservation officer before ordering.

How does the ornamental pattern affect ventilation performance?

How does the ornamental pattern affect ventilation performance?

The Gothic foliate tracery design of the Ornamental Airbrick provides a good free-flow ventilation area relative to its face size. The open area is comparable to other standard cast iron airbrick patterns. The visual density of the pattern at a distance reads as solid ironwork, which suits formal and decorative elevations without compromising subfloor ventilation effectiveness.

What types of rooflight opener are available in brass and chrome finishes?

Tuscan Foundry supplies screw-jack rooflight openers in polished brass, satin chrome, and polished chrome finishes. We have just purchased some cast iron radiators and they have a slightly uneven texture to the surface. What can we do about this.

We have just purchased some cast iron radiators and they have a slightly uneven texture to the surface. What can we do about this.

Casting of iron is an imperfect processs. It is possible with some cast iron radiators that you will get minor imperfections in the surface finish. When radiators are painted this will reduce and over the years every additional coat of paint applied will provide a smoother more equal finish.

How does a hit and miss vent work?

How does a hit and miss vent work?

A hit and miss vent has a sliding plate on the back of the grille that can be opened, partially restricted, or closed entirely without removing the vent from the wall. This allows airflow to be controlled from inside the building, making it suitable for underfloor void ventilation and through-wall ventilation where adjustable airflow is needed.

Is a cast iron hopper head suitable for use on a listed building?

Is a cast iron hopper head suitable for use on a listed building?

Yes. Cast iron hopper heads are the historically appropriate choice for listed buildings, and are generally preferred by conservation officers and local planning authorities over modern plastic alternatives. Tuscan Foundry cast iron hopper heads are manufactured in solid grey iron and are suitable for use on listed buildings and within conservation areas. A linseed oil finish is also available, which is particularly appropriate for sensitive heritage projects.
