A genuine half-round beaded cast iron rainwater system with double beading.
The beaded half round cast iron gutter is the traditional profile for Scotland and the north of England. The distinctive double bead running along both lips of the gutter section is the defining characteristic of the beaded profile — a regional standard seen on Edinburgh tenements, Glasgow Victorian terraces, Aberdeen granite buildings, and institutional architecture across the central belt and beyond. Where a plain half round gutter would look incorrect on a Scottish or northern English property, the beaded profile is the heritage-accurate replacement.
Manufactured in solid cast iron to BS 460:2002, this section is 1829mm in length and available in four sizes to suit the full range of period buildings: 100mm (4″), 115mm (4.5″), 125mm (5″), and 150mm (6″). Supplied in primed or factory black finish as standard. The socket-and-spigot joint allows sections to connect cleanly in a run, secured with union clips and sealed with jointing compound for a watertight installation.
Suitable for all grades of listed building and accepted by Historic Environment Scotland and conservation officers across Scotland and northern England as the correct material for heritage rainwater work. Compatible with the full range of beaded half round fittings: 90 degree angles, 135 degree angles, nozzle outlets, drop ends, stop ends, and union clips, all available from Tuscan Foundry Products.
Cast iron outlasts uPVC by decades. Correctly maintained with paint, a beaded cast iron gutter system will perform for 50 to 100 years and more — a specification choice that protects the building and satisfies the conservation brief.

All of our cast iron radiators are availbale as standard with a 1/2″ BSP (15mm) connection. We are though also able to supply many of our radiators and valves with 3/4″ BSP connections. Due to the size proportions of some radiators and valves 3/4″ connections may be more suitable.
The Paxton H82 is a large-format hopper with decorative collar mouldings, making it particularly well suited to late Victorian and Edwardian buildings where the rainwater system forms part of the architectural composition. Typical applications include commercial heritage buildings, civic buildings, large detached houses, institutional premises, and warehouse conversions where a more substantial fitting is appropriate.
Yes. The Louvre Airbrick is dimensioned to standard brick course openings and is suitable for direct replacement of worn, broken, or missing original cast iron louvre grilles. If you are unsure of the size required, measure the opening in the brickwork rather than the existing damaged grille.
Yes. Cast iron airbricks are the appropriate material for listed buildings and conservation area properties where the original ventilation grilles were cast iron. They maintain the character and material authenticity required by most conservation officers and listed building consent conditions. We recommend confirming the specific pattern with your conservation officer before ordering.
Our brackets are more commonly used on cast iron rainwater systems. Unlike plastic, cast iron is heavy and the weight keeps the gutter in position. As such our brackets do not normally have retaining clips which could lead to plastic or lightweight gutters blowing out of the bracket. The profile of your gutter should match that of our bracket but without the weight to keep it in place you may well encounter problems in bad weather.
The Pultney Tapered Hopper Head is well suited to Georgian and Regency townhouses, Victorian terraces, rural farmhouses, barns, and functional estate buildings where a plain, period-correct hopper is the appropriate specification. It also works well on new heritage-style construction. Its unfussy, chamfered form makes it a versatile choice across a wide range of traditional building types.
Yes. Cast iron rainwater goods are widely accepted by conservation officers and historic environment bodies as the appropriate material for listed buildings. Tuscan Foundry's hopper heads are manufactured in solid cast iron to BS 460 specification and are suitable for all listed building grades. A linseed oil paint finish is also available, which is particularly appropriate for conservation projects.
Yes. Polished brass ironmongery is historically appropriate for period buildings and is generally acceptable to conservation officers for listed building projects. If you require confirmation for your specific scheme, we are happy to advise — call 0333 987 4452.
